I never dreamt that one day I will be an entrepreneur, says James. Then I came across Menta Aha Biz training and mentorship program on how to generate a business idea. I went through a two-day training and got a business idea. I approached my relatives who loaned me some money, and I was able to start a dairy business. Later my mentor Dr Jane Munene provided mentorship support that made me realize that I needed to upgrade my herd of cows to more modern breeds that could offer me more milk supply. As I discussed with her, I came to also realize that instead of hawking milk to the neighbors, I could sell to the milk cooperative where I could access loans to expand my business. I took these strategies, and my business continued to grow and thrive. She also made me aware that I could diversify into other businesses so as to utilize my farm fully, and so, I started fruit farming. My incomes increased tenfold, and I was able to buy a motor bike and build a home for myself. Today I own a pro-box vehicle which I use to ferry fruits to the local market.
